A place to slow right down
The Old Exchange was renovated by hand by its owners, Gemma & Adam, with the
original rustic features kept firmly in place — exposed beams, reclaimed wooden floors
and quirky touches like three-inch oak worktops and a hammock swing seat in the
bedroom.
Outside the door: Waterfall Country’s falls and gorges, mountain walks, showcaves and
cold-water swims — and after dark, some of the best stargazing in Britain, right in
the heart of the Bannau Brycheiniog International Dark Sky Reserve. Or stay put — the
Cotswold-stone patio is a proper sun trap, and there are quaint country pubs within
walking distance for when the evening draws in.
One king bedroom, one beautiful bathroom, and a living space made for lazy mornings —
yours entirely, with room for two.
The bedroom
A king-size bed with crisp linen, dressing tables either side, a farm-style wardrobe — and the hammock swing seat everyone falls in love with.
The living space
Original beams overhead, a cosy corner sofa, and a 42″ TV with Netflix and Apple TV for slow evenings in.
Kitchen & dining
A quirky separate kitchen with a Belfast sink and three-inch oak worktops, plus a table for two-to-four in front of the French doors.
The bathroom
Deep green tiles, an antique standing sink and a huge walk-in shower — guests say it’s “on par with a luxury hotel”.
And outside
A private patio finished in Cotswold stone — morning coffee with valley views, golden
afternoons in the sun trap, and the whole of the Beacons beyond the gate.
Free parking, right on the premises — no permits, no roadside
scramble. Leave the car and walk to Cribarth or Henrhyd from the door, or use it as
your base and drive out to the falls. In the Beacons, that’s rarer than it should be.
